Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Course Modules

The course consists of three main modules, each with several subtopics and activities. The modules are:

Module 1: Writing a Research Paper

In this module, you will learn how to:

  • Plan and structure your paper according to the IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion)
  • Write each section of your paper with clarity, coherence, and accuracy
  • Use effective language, style, and tone for scientific writing
  • Cite and reference sources correctly and avoid plagiarism
  • Use tables, figures, and equations to present and support your data
  • Revise and edit your paper for quality and consistency
Module 2: Publishing a Research Paper

In this module, you will learn how to:

  • Identify and evaluate potential journals or venues for your paper
  • Understand the publication process and the roles of editors and reviewers
  • Write a cover letter and a response to reviewers
  • Deal with rejection, revision, and resubmission
  • Understand the types and benefits of open access publishing
  • Use bibliometric indicators to measure the impact of your paper
Module 3: Writing and Publishing a Review Paper

In this module, you will learn how to:

  • Define the scope and purpose of your review paper
  • Conduct a systematic and comprehensive literature search and review
  • Synthesize and analyze the existing literature on your topic
  • Write a critical and constructive review paper
  • Choose a suitable journal or venue for your review paper and prepare a submission package

Course Assessment

The course assessment will consist of:

  • A research paper on a topic of your choice, following the guidelines and criteria of the course
  • A peer review of another student’s research paper, using a rubric and feedback form
  • A reflection paper on your learning experience and outcomes from the course

Training Cost

The training cost for each module is US$30 per module of your choice. However, we offer discounts if you are interested in ALL modules. The cost is for full remote training, and it covers the tuition fees, learning materials, and certification. Those interested in physical training incur an additional US$25 to include meals and refreshments at the training venue. Further information will be provided upon inquiry.
